Shapes, Colors & Sleeping Beauty
We did a fairly simple project today. I cut out shapes from cardstock and felt and traced coordinating shapes onto white cardstock with the matching color. The kids did great matching them up, I glued them in place, and they added some more color with crayons.

Butterflies, Owies & Reading
This was our project today and I got the idea here. All this talk about spring-like weather, I'm thinking about colorful butterflies :) I'm sick of the snow already.. at least today anyway.
Here's how we did it. You draw a butterfly on a piece of wax paper. Draw half a butterfly, then fold the paper over and trace the other half.
I shaved some old pieces of crayons onto a pallet for the kids to work from. They each got their own pallet of colors.
Here's Taylor putting her colors onto her butterfly.
Then you put a piece of wax paper on top and iron on low heat. Put a paper towel over the wax paper to protect your iron. Then cut it out, poke a hole, attach a string and hang in the window!
Pretty & easy!
Taylor pinched her finger on something this morning so after I put a bandaid on her, she wanted me to take a picture of her and "Dory" (she calls this blue whale, one of her bath toys). Dory had an owie too.
The girls were reading books this morning waiting for the little boy to come. Or should I say, they were reading one book that they both wanted.

Puppets, Curls & Cuties
We made frog puppets on Friday for our project. They were fun while they lasted.. Taylor had her eyes and tongue off not long after the little boy left for the day. I got this idea here.
This was my attempt at taking a picture of Hailey's curls. Her hair is growing in like a weed all of a sudden and the curls behind her ears are darn cute.

Welcome Home Jon!!!

My brother Jon is driving home with my parents from Ft. Polk, Louisiana today after a LONG YEAR in Iraq! I can't quite put the words together that are flowing in my head right now so I'll just say that here comes the big SIGH OF RELIEF!
If you told me 10 years ago that out of my two big brothers that Jon would be the one to join the Army, I would've said you were nuts. Although I'm not sure why because he's always been full of surprises.
If I didn't before I definately do now, RESPECT. I can only imagine the things you've seen and done, and we're very proud of you. Welcome HOME!

Projects & Puzzles
We took a break from colors this week to change things up a bit. Also, I had a cold and didn't really feel like finding and cutting everything out. It takes a lot of time and effort to make some of those, but we have a lot of fun.
Here was our Monday project this week. I got this idea from Stacy. I drew a star (3 lines) with glue and cut out the squares of tin foil, then the kids put them on. They did a great job and had fun with the different texture.

Tuesday's project was an egg carton catepillar. I poked the holes and drew the face, and the kids put the pipe cleaners in for the ears and colored with markers. I got this idea from this website.

Today's project was a penguin. I got out the parts and the kids glued it together. This idea was from this website, but I didn't do the footprint thing. I just cut out the penguin shape instead.
I used cardstock for the the black and orange and felt for the belly.

Here are puzzle pictures this week. They all love doing the different wood puzzles every day, even Hailey ;-)

Playing
Taylor & Hailey's old babysitter and family came over to play yesterday. They brought her Dora blanket that she slept with at her house so she had to test it out for "nap" yesterday. I am sarcastic because she didn't really nap.. it's a neverending battle some days.

Us girls playing again, as Daddy went snowmobiling Saturday.
