Heart Murmur

Since it will probably be easier for me to write this down then say it, I will post it here.

Hailey was born on Monday afternoon, and the doctors noticed later that day that she has a small heart murmur. They said it was common for newborns, but they were going to watch it. It was still there when we left the hospital on Wednesday and when we went to see her pediatrician on Thursday. So, her pediatrician sent us back to the hospital to see the pediatric cardiologist to see if it is something that will just go away on its own or not. Hailey had an echo ultrasound done on her heart, where they discovered where the murmur is. It's actually two small holes/tears in the bottom part of her heart. Right now it's not doing any damage, just producing a little extra blood to the lungs. We're told most murmurs this size close on their own as baby grows in the first few months, which is what we're hoping for. If the hole stays the same size as her heart gets bigger, she can also live normal the rest of her life. However, if the hole grows with her heart or gets bigger then she'd have to have surgery to repair it sometime this year. This is the part that scares me the most - of course!

So, we have to go in for a weekly weight, color, and health checks to make sure everything's functioning normally. Then, we go back in 4 weeks (June 19th) for another echo to check on the murmur. So far, the doctors say she has great color, weight gain already, and the outlook is excellent. Hard for Mom to not worry though about every little twitch she makes now... We're told to spoil her, as that wasn't going to happen anyway!

My surprising 39 week Dr appt...

I went in yesterday afternoon because I've been having this unbearable constant pain in my back.. I was in tears yesterday for half the day and nothing helps.. laying down, drinking water, bath, backrub, tylenol, etc... They tested me for a bladder infection or UTI and it was negative.

So, I went in this morning and my dr said the baby is sitting on my spine funny and there's really nothing we can do to relieve the pain until she comes out. My dr is going on vacation next week and the next time I'd be able to go in is 4 days overdue. She said my cervix is still high and closed and probably wasn't opening anytime soon on it's own, as it never did with Taylor until I was induced. Also, my dr had to leave halfway through my appt to "catch a baby". LOL, she came back 15 minutes later and all Taylor has been saying since is,"Dr, go catch the baby?"
I asked her what we should do to help bring labor faster and hopefully before she leaves on vacation (it'd make me feel better having her there) and she said we could induce on Monday!

So... anyway! I'm excited that I will have this baby by monday at the latest!

Plus, my brother is on his way home right now from Iraq and flies in tomorrow! Perfect timing.. guess she's been waiting for him to get home first!

Before I was a Mom...

Before I was a Mom;

I never learned the words to a lullaby.
I never thought about immunizations.

I had never been puked on,
Pooped on,
Drooled on,
Chewed on,
Peed on…….

I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple little grin.
I never sat up for hours watching a baby sleep.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom -
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.
I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.
I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache, the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much before I was a Mom.

More Pictures..

While I haven't been able to sleep past 3:30 again for a few days now, at least you all are keeping updated right? lol

We stopped at the store on the way home last night and Taylor wanted to buy me something. First, she was dragging around this big sponge bob gift bag for Mommy... But, then she saw these flip flops and they were too cute to refuse.

Taylor tries to make me feel better by making faces now.. :)
